We also went to two Gaba locations, there was pretty good turnup. GABA is striking for pay hike, and other demands.

BEGUNTO GOES ON STRIKE
On September 14th Begunto entered dispute after weeks of negotiations that went nowhere. On September 16th we had our first striking member. The purpose of the strike is to realize the Union’s demand that our member, Matthew Wiegand, be reinstated in his job. We aim to protect members against unfair dismissals.

CoVID-19 update
Due to the increased danger of the COVID-19 virus, we urge all instructors to practice social distancing (at least as much as possible under current circumstances) and increased hygiene. Also, please make sure to mention to the staff any student who appears to be manifesting symptoms of the virus (a hacking or dry cough, obvious difficulty in breathing, feverish appearance, etc.).
Begunto has submitted demands for appropriate actions and disinfecting classroom and work spaces in the LC, as protection against COVID-19, and you can check them out here.
If you have any questions or suggestions related to management’s lack of preparedness against the virus, don’t hesitate to contact us at Begunto1@yahoo.com

Begunto joins Tozen
On Saturday June 8th, Begunto members voted in favor of changing our parent affiliation to Tozen (Zenkoku Ippan Tokyo General Union).
President, Hifumi Okunuki and CFO, Louis Carlet have both been very welcoming and have already started working with Begunto on many issues. Together we hope to achieve better working conditions for all members.
